Description
Guitar Zither made by Meisenhaur. The label in the centre of the Zither which is red leather, says patent pending which dates the Zither to prior to 1894 which is when the patent was issued. The Zither is wood painted black and in gold is a label showing the notes (eg A,B,C, D, E, F, G) and numbers. There are 29  strings and 31 pegs and 31 string holders on the top of the zither. There is a red, green. white and gold crest behind the string on the left side of the zither with the crest for Meisenhaur. The backside of the zither is solid wood with 3 metal pins that the zither stands on.   
The Zither was in the Jackson family since some time in the 1800's. It was played by Wesley Jackson's sister, Mrs. Mary Snelgrove. Mr Jackson was raised at Fergus, Ontario. The insturment was brought to his farm at Riverhurst by his brother.
