Description
A miniature Red River Cart. The Red River Cart is a large two wheeled cart made entirely of non-metallic materials. The cart was usually drawn by oxen but horses and mules were also used. These carts were used during the 19th century for fur trade expansion and growth to parts of Canada and the United States. The Metis developed the cart  for use on their settlements in the Red River Area (now Manitoba) and the the carts they were not restricted to travel by water to hunt bison. The Cart was instrumental the commercialization of buffalo hunts. . The cart was donated by G. M. Krislock but on an accession ledger it also indicates Judge Parker from Melfort. ;
