Description
A black clip on tie. Worn by Mr. Frank Rudd father of N.C. Rudd. The clip on tie was believed to be created around 1928 but the creator is still a mystery.

Back in the day and still today, a person could be judged on how well they dressed. Is it clean, no wrinkles, did it fit and was it put together correctly. Naturally their everyday tie would also contribute to their impression on people, and everybody wanted to look like their best selves. The clip on tie was meant for people that couldn't quite make a tie or had no time to. As an example, law enforcements, paramedics and engineers would not have enough time to properly make and undo a perfect tie with their types of jobs. The clip on tie was in their favour because it could be removed and put back on very quickly, but would always maintain perfection. The fact that it always kept it's perfect shape, made it ideal for those who didn't quite get the hang of tying a tie, but still wanted to look professional, and a bit better than the guy next to them.

The tie has a carboard frame , covered in fabric, making a fake neck section that would show through the suit. Attached to this cardboard there is a small clasp that holds on to the inner shirt collar of the wearer. This would give the illusion of a perfect tie. To remove the tie one would simply pull it off.
