Description

(a). Stone carving of a walrus. Had dowel attached in back center to be doweled, laying flat, into the base. One flipper sits on top of body with digits carved. Small circles carved for eyes, and round hole carved for mouth. Small round hole on top back. Lines carved for wrinkles throughout. 

From grey stone carving sculpture of walrus and bird. Bird would be dowelled to base and the walrus is dowelled laying flat on the base. There is a hole for missing figure.
Pegging carvings to a base can be a method to stabilize the objects and have them be more of a  tabletop display. Having removable elements pegged to a base, such as with the carving, can be intentional to allow the carvings to be movable for storytelling.
