Description

(c) - Ivory/bone dowel. From grey soapstone sculpture of walrus and bird. Bird would be dowelled to base and the walrus is dowelled laying flat on the base. There is a hole for missing figure.
Pegging carvings to a base can be a method to stabilize the objects and have them be more of a tabletop display. Having removable elements pegged to a base, such as with the carving, can be intentional to allow the carvings to be movable for storytelling.
