Description
Green Inuit "soapstone" carving of a man on his stomach pinning down an animal. The animal's  head is under the man on his right side, and tail of animal is curved behind the man. The man is crouched on his stomach, legs bent at the knees on either side of the animal and arms bent in front of him. His feet are on the animal's side. He is carved to wear a parka with the hood up, His face is carved with a stern expression with creases in his forehead, eyebrows angled upwards, thin eyes pointed upwards, a long round nose, and straight-line carved for a mouth. Creases in arm where bent, lines at wrist showing end of parka, and fingers not defined in hands (could be wearing mittens). Right hand is holding small ivory/bone inlay. Animal has long face with raised nose/mouth and a carved mouth. No defined eyes. Small ivory/bone inlay on the side of the animal's head. No inscribed disk numbers, signature, or syllabics.
