Description

Clear, green, and cranberry coloured cut-glass cream pitcher also known as a creamer. The body of the pitcher is cut with various geometric designs. The geometric designs start at the base, which is distinctive from the rest of the body, with regular vertical lines cut around the edges. Above the base the geometric designs continue, mainly in triangular and diamond shapes which are formed together to resemble foliage.  The top sections of the glass is stained, some areas in green that resemble foliage, and the rest in a cranberry colour, including the entire top of the rim and the spout. The spout extends gently upwards and is higher than the rest of the rim. The pitcher has a curved handle which is attached on the direct opposite side of the spout. The top rim of the pitcher is coated in a gold metallic paint.

This pitcher is one in a set of three donated together. They came with two certificates of authenticity from the Fitzpatrick Auction House certifying that they were "personal property of former Canadian Prime Minister (1957-1962) John G. Diefenbaker and Mrs. Olive Diefenbaker" from when they were auctioned on September 17, 1983.

The Fitzpatrick Auction Centre was located at 1205 Twinney Crescent in Newmarket Ontario. The auctioneer for the sale was Terrence J. FitzPatrick.
