Description

Rectangular wood printing block. Front: Raised relief wood has been stained red, with some of the stained areas appearing pink and light purple. The top of the block has been carved into a skyline. The buildings start small on the left and increase in size as you move right. All buildings are carved in a diagonal slope to the right. In the middle of the block is a carving of a billboard, again growing in size from left to right to give scale and depth, and is also on a slight diagonal slope to the right. The billboard measures 27.5cm wide accross the middle and the left side measures 15.0cm tall and the right side measures 21.3cm long. Edges of the billboard are raised with the center scraped out with a circular tool. Along the face of the relief billboard is a wavy dotted line around all four sides. Above the billboard are three relief stars about 1.0cm by 1.0cm. Just above the left and right bottom corners of the billboard are 2 circular shapes and there are three just below the billboard as well. Along the bottom edge of the billboard, the top point of a star has been carved out about 6.5 cm from the left edge. There is approximately a 2 cm gap between the billboard and the top gap forming the body of the star. Total width (horizontal) of the sign, including this gap, would be 29 cm. Star gap is towards the left side of the block. The second section of the sign consists of the words "OVER 2 HOURS OF ENTERTAINMENT" written backwords. The right side is a skinny raised line about 0.5 cm running parallel to the right edge of the billboard and narrows to a point 2/3 of the way up. To the right of the line are two more circles above one another. Wood colour is concentrated along the edges if the raised wood. Small section from the top of the left billboard appear to have been carved out by a circular chisel head. Back: Paper has been attached as well as a mounted piece of backing measuring 30.6 cm wide and 33.8 cm long. Two hole have been drilled through. In the upper right corner of the mounted wood, is clear tape with an orange sticker and the number 32 written on it.
