Block, Wood

Artifact

Accession Number:
2015.1.41
Description
The image that is on the front of the block is a waving Union Jack with 2 ropes on the right side of it. The right rope crosses in front of the left one. There are three different widths or top to bottom measurements. The right one is the longest; the second section is 44.0cm and the third is 41.0cm. The carved part (flag and ropes) are an orange-red colour. The left part of the flag is cut short by the edge. The 5 strands that make up the design of the Union Jack flag are wavy with varying widths. This is why it appears to be a waving flag. There are two 0.7cm points on the top right part of the flag. Sides: the previous temporary number is written on a label on the right side. Back: there is masking tape on the right side with "DAG 335" written on it with red marker. The previous temporary number is written in permanent marker on the bottom left corner of the back. There are two incisions at each of the two corners where the two different widths meet along the bottom.
