Description

Large pictographic wood printing block. Front: It is a large rectangle with a 11.5 by 34.0cm missing piece out of the right corner. There is a 16.0cm by 42.8cm rectangle cut out of the left side. It is on a downwards slant and is 23cm from the bottom. The main design of this piece is the outline of a tiger running on a downwards slant. The tiger is 100.0cm from the tip of his tail to the edge of his front paw (maximum length). There is a carving of a 4.5cm long star to the left of the tiger's back paw. The smooth red wood that the tiger is carved into does not cover the entire block. On the left side it begins 17.5cm from the bottom edge and continues on a downward angle for 30.5cm. It then slants upwards into a small triangle, and then slants up again to make the top of a rectangle. On the third break from this line, it curves to form a semi-circle. It continues angling down for 36cm before it angles up again into a straight line for 17.5cm. It then continues up for 13.5cm before curving and going back into a straight line until it meets the outline of the tiger. There are traces of the colour purple in the outlines of the tiger. There is an engraved line that curves around the would be left side. There is a long strip of wood that is nailed on to the left side of the block. Sides: There is a label on the top side with the previous temporary number written on it Back: there is a piece of masking tape on the top edge with "DAG 332" written on it in red ink. The previous temporary number is also written in permanent marker near the top right corner. There is red ink or paint splattered all over the top right corner. There are two incisions along the top and right sides of the missing rectangle, as well as in the corners. The cuts have a dark goo in them like sap.
