Description
Solid wood rectangular text and picture block. Front: stained red. Starting in the bottom left corner, is a design of a woman sitting on an elephant's head and the elephant is sitting on a circular platform about 2cm long with 4 stars on it. This design at its widest and longest points measures about 19cm wide and 25.5cm long. To the right of the elephant is a raised design of a clown holding some balloons. The clown is only shown from the chest up and at the widest and longest points measures 21.5cm wide and 17cm long. Occupying the right side and the top of the block is the word "CIRCUS" written backwards. The "C" is 32cm long by 14.5cm wide (at extreme points) the "I" is set inside the C and measures 4 cm wide, but each letter gradually gets shorter with the "S" measuring 10cm long. The final raised details are 6 circles; one below the "S", one in between the elephant and the clown; one to the right of the clown's head, and 3 at the top, 2 above the "R" and one in the top right corner. These circles vary in size. The remainder of the block has been chiselled down with a circular headed tool. Sides: residual red stain near the front, black in the grain Back: Paper has been glued in a plaid pattern, 2 hangers have been attached to the top corners. There is a length of masking tape to the right of the hanger in the top left corner, not quite in line with the hangers, with a small piece of white paper/tape with "11" written in red ink.
