Description
Tongue and groove wood rectangular text block. Chiseled with linear grooves. Front: stained blue block. Block has 3 distinct sections. The first section takes up the top third of the block measuring 48.2cm wide by 24cm long. Along the top, left and right sides is a wavy border 2.5cm wide with a groove down the middle. Inside the border, the wood has been chiseled completely on the right side and on the left there is a raised design of cow's face approximately 21cm by 21.5cm long. The second section occupies the middle of the board measuring 48.2cm wide by 17.9cm long. All along the edge 0.4cm in is a linear groove creating a border for the middle section. Chiseled into the wood is the word "FAIR" backwards, each letter is a 12.5cm tall, and the word is centered within this section. The final section measures the exact same as the top (including the border). This section has been chiseled down on the right leaving a raised design in the left side of grain at the top, then 2 pumpkins and lettuce on the bottom. The vegetable design measures 23.5cm across the lettuce bottom 13cm across the pumpkins and 3 grain pieces each 1cm wide and varying lengths to the top of the section. Sides: residual stain along sides near the front Back: stamped replica of a cow's face on the back left side. Paper remnants on the back left and right side. There are signs of residual red, blue and yellow ink stains. Hole drilled through on the bottom left corner (when viewed from the front, hole in bottom right corner when viewed from the back). The print of the cow's face is likely a transfer from a finished paper print, as it consists of features from both printing blocks 2015.1.128a&b
