Description

Rectangular tongue and groove picture block. The purpose of this board is to show detail around the design. Much of the design portion for this block is recessed, with the outline done in relief. Front: Stained red. Starting at the top, this block features 10 recessed circles of various sizes which portray balloons. There are 5 (2 joined together in the top right corner). Below these balloons on the left side is the recessed design of a ferris wheel beginning 10.4cm down from the top left corner. The ferris wheel is about 16.5cm at its tallest point and 24.0cm at the widest point. Overlapping the ferris wheel are 3 more circles: one at the left edge, one at the apex, and just below and to the right of the second circle. Slightly above the first circle is the recessed design of a swinging ride. Running down from the top circles, through the ferris wheel is the design of a pole 1.3cm wide and about 22.0cm long where it connects with a carousel pony. Connecting to the bottom of the ferris wheel in relief is the outline of a woman's curly hair and lips with the rest of her face recessed. The girl's face covers a space of about 10.0cm by 10.0cm. To the right of her head is the outline(recessed) of her arm approximately 16.0cm long with 2 more balloons one to the right of her elbow and the other behind her wrist. As you move down the block you begin to get larger areas of recessed wood. Under the face of the girl is a recessed area where her torso and the carousel pony would be. This area is approximately 28.0cm wide and 10.0cm long at her torso and 28.0cm for the horse's torso. Beneath her torso is the relief design of her skirt. Finally in the bottom section is one relief circle and one recessed circle which cuts into the relief circle. Sides: Residual red stain and black marks in the wood grain. Back: "No. 98" stamped in the center in purple ink, and "Red" is written just underneath this stamp. Black marks consistent with the relief designs on the front.
