Description
Picture block*** Tongue and groove technique is used to join the wood together. Rectangular wood block. Front: stained black/dark blue. The scene on the front is a very intricate outline of a fair scene and a boy riding a carousel horse using relief wood. At the bottom edge is a crowd looking towards the fair. There is a 7.0cm (wide) by 8.0cm (tall) ferris wheel above the heads of the people on the left side. The image on the front is the boy riding a carousel horse. The horse's legs are bent which make it look as if it is jumping over the fair scene below it. From tail to chest it is 28.0cm long. From its head to its front right hoof it measures 32.4cm tall. It has a bridle on its face and a feather on the top of its head. It also has a very full and curly mane. The pole on its back that the boy is holding onto with his left hand is 15.8cm tall. From his head to his right foot in the stirrup, the boy is 31.2cm tall. The boy is wearing shorts and a t-shirt. 12.8cm from the top edge is a 0.4cm wide by 28.5cm long relief line. There are 4 3.7cm (tall) by 3.4cm (wide) curves, with thermometer-like shapes carved into the middle of them, hanging down from the relief line. 1.4cm above the line is a 7.9cm (tall) by 28.5cm (long) relief rectangle. There are 2 clown figures carved into the rectangle; one is on the left and the other is on the right. The one on the left is walking towards the right, and banging a bassdrum. He is 9.2cm tall and 7.1cm wide including his drum. The clown on the right is is dancing. His arms are up as well as his left foot. He is 9.7cm tall and about 4.5cm wide at one of his widest points. Back: There is a strip of masking tape in the top right corner with "DAG 291" written in red ink. "No. 97" is handwritten in pencil in the middle. Below it the word "Blue" appears to also be handwritten in pencil. To the right "97" is printed sideways. A little farther down, the previous temporary number is written in pencil.
