Description
**Picture Block** Rectangular Wood block Front: Stained red with relief wood filling in parts of the images outlined in block 2015.1.138a. It makes a border around the image, except for the top, with a 0.5cm-2.0 cm wide line. The bottom line is 5.4 cm from the bottom edge. The side lines of the border are about 0.5cm from the edges of the block. The relief wood fills in the designs along the bottom, in the tops and sides of the tents. In the middle, about 7.6 cm from the bottom border line, begins the filling in of some of the stripes of the pole that goes through the carousel horse. Moving up toward where the horse head outline would be, the relief wood fills the front pieces of the bridle as well as a crest design that would hang where the horse's forelock would be. It also fills in the feather shape on the top of the head. It also fills in a halter or collar that goes across the horse's chest. To the left, the relief wood also fills in parts of what would be the boy's clothing. The carousel pole continues up into the top of the tent of the carousel. It fills in the circles that are hanging from the line that goes across the top. There are 4 3.7cm (tall) x 1.2 cm wide lines hanging beside the relief circles. At each side of the line there is a 3.8cm x 3cm rectangle. The relief wood fills in more parts of the outline of the 2 clowns who were near the top. The left is banging on the bass drum and the right is dancing. The relief wood fills in the spots on the outfits. Back: There is a strip of masking tape along the top on the left with "DAG 291" written on it in red ink. Farther down near the middle, the previous temporary mnumber is written in pencil. Below it "No. 97" is stamped onto the wood in purple ink. "Red" is handwritten in pencil across the middle.
