Description
*Picture Block*** Tongue and groove technique used to join the wood together. Front: rectangle block stained yellow with relief wood filling in the negative space of the designs of 2015.1.141a & b, except for in the bottom left corner where it fills in the woman's hair. She has short shoulder length hair. The relief wood also fills in some stripes of the tent on the left of the fair scene in the bottom right corner.The relief wood fills in the negative space in the 3 corners of the clown, boy, and woman, as well as around the circles that surround them. There are 2 breaks in the relief wood of recessed wood at the bottom of the woman's circle that represent the clown's legs. The first at the bottom is 6.5cm wide, and the second which is higher up to the right is 9.4cm wide. In the fair scene, the relief wood fills in the negative space around behind tents and in the ferris wheel. In the top left corner, the clown's hat is recessed. In the recessed area of the clown there are 11 relief lines that are designs on the clown's outfit. Back: there is a strip of masking tape in the top left of the back with "DAG 299" written in red ink. Below it the previous temporary number is written in pencil. To the right, "Yellow" is handwritten in pencil across the back. There is a torn strip of paper across the top. "No. 403" is stamped in purple ink on the right side.
