Description
*Text Block* Lino attached to a plywood base, originally stained brownish-red but has since been used in non-traditional block printing, and measures 2.3cm thick by 33cm wide (horizontal) and 34.3cm long(vertical). Front: This block features a raised curved lino portion as a banner with 2 rows of letters spelling "AUTO RACES" which have been cut out into the lino using a linear tool, and which follow the curve in the banner. The banner begins 2cm down from the top left corner and follows the left edge for 29.1cm vertically. The right does the same thing but begins 4.2cm from the top right edge. Both the top and bottom edges make a wave, first curving up from the left (convex) and creating a concave curve from the middle to the right edge (~). Within this banner are 2 rows of letters centered above one another reading "AUTO RACES". Each letter is about 10.5cm tall and 7cm wide (top row) and 10.5cm tall and 5cm (bottom row). Surrounding the banner are linear lino cuts. Residual non-original stain (hot pink, blue, and silver) can be seen on the front, back, and sides of the block. Paper has been glued onto the back.
