Description

*Picture Block* Linoleum nailed to the plywood base. Front: block has a recessed border at the edges measuring 0.5cm wide, followed by a relief border measuring 0.9cm wide along the bottom, left side (for 21.8cm) and right side (for 30cm) before joining with the top cutout border to measure approximately 2.5cm wide (right), 4cm wide (top) and 4.5cm (left). Board has 2 cutouts: 1st cutout at the bottom measures 11cm long (left side), 28.8cm (bottom) 10cm (right). The top of this cutout is shaped similar to a square root sign and has 3 measurements: 6.3cm from the left edge of the cutout, 6.3cm going diagonally up and right (approximately 40 degrees), then diagonally down and right for 19.7cm. In the top left corner of the cutout is a relief design of a star occupying 8.5cm wide by 7cm long space and is surrounded by recessed lino cuts. Approximately 1cm of recessed lino cuts surrounds the bottom, left, and right sides of the bottom cutout. Starting in the top right corner of the cutout is a recessed triangle 15cm (bottom) by 18cm (left and right), filled with linear lino cuts. To the left of the truangle is the right border of the second cutout, measuring 1.3cm wide (bottom border is same width). Within the border is another recessed border measuring 1.1cm wide (left, right and bottom) and 3.5cm (top). Within the top 3.5cm recessed area are the words "IN PERSON" done in relief wood and written backwards. Each letter is approximately 1.0cm wide by 1.5cm long and is on a slight semi-circle curve. The final detail is a recessed triangle, point at the bottom 9.5cm from the top edge and 1.3cm from the left edge and measures: 1.2cm wide (top) and 4.2cm long (left and right). Non-origional gold stain is present on the front and sides from its use in non-traditional printing. Sides: Plain plywood Back: non-traditional stain remnants along the back. "Orange" handwritten in pencil in the center.
