Description
*Picture Block* Rectangular tongue and groove joined wood block. Front: stained dark blue and is mostly recessed using circular headed tool. Relief wood has been used to create a border and definition in the design. Block can be split in 2 sections: 1) A 1.1cm wide relief rectangle border on the bottom half approximately 48.2cm wide by 34cm long. The section uses the top line of the previous rectangle as its bottom border. Border extends 8.1cm up on the left side and 7.2cm up on the right before forming an approximately 9.5cm wide arc (at the center--slightly wider at the edges--about 14cm)--the top edge of this passes just 1cm from the top edge at the center. Partially covering and finishing below this arc is the design for a batter swinging at a pitch with a catcher behind him covering approximately 23.5cm wide by 30cm long. Stain is concentrated on the relief areas. Sides: Plain with residual ink stains near the front edges and in the wood grain. "70" written on the top left side. Back: Residual ink stains around the outer edges. "Blue" is handwritten in pencil in the center. Red ink stain in the top half center of the block.
