Description
*Picture/Accent Block* Tongue and groove joined wood square block. Front: Stained red--mostly recessed block with relief wood adding greater detail to the fair scene in 2015.1.183a. Relief wood design is concentrated in a 50.7cm wide by 23.5cm long section beginning 6.8cm up from the bottom left corner. This relief provides detail on the tent/carousel skirt 12.9cm wide by 3.2cm long, with a spiky triangular bottom and 1 and 1/2 mini designs that resemble fleur de lis. Above this tent are 4 rectangular--like shapes adding detail to a building 11cm long by 2cm wide. Moving right to the ferris wheel (circle) is outlined 0.5cm thick with a diameter of 20.2cm. The 6 point star in the center is also emphasized. To the right of the ferris wheel appears to be more buildings detailed covering an area 20.7cm wide by 16.7cm long. The rest of the block has been recessed using a circular chisel. *Block 2 of a 3 block series*. Sides: plain wood with residual stain near the front edges. "TOP RED" written on top center edge. Back: 6 strips of paper attached to back 50.7cm wide by 6.3cm long spaced approx 1cm apart. "No 406" has been stamped upside down in between 3rd and 4th papers. Residual red ink can be seen behind paper strips in the center.
