Description
*Background/Accent Block* Square tongue and groove wood block. Block three in a four block (lithographic, blue, red, yellow) series. Front: Stained red--combo of recessed and relief wood. Top portion of the block features relief wood acting as a background around the circles (7) and joins to form the girl's red hair. Also in relief wood in this section is a detailed carving of the girl's lips, nostril's, and 3 ridged (washboard) sections that provide detail on her cheeks and chin. In the lower section (within a recessed semi-circle) are many different small shapes which provide accents for the fair scene of 2015.1.193a. Beginning in the bottom right there are accent details for the carousel and part of the ferris wheel (slightly above and recessed into the relief wood). Moving left, in the center are several triangles and rectangles providing detail for a tent and flag. In the bottom left corner is detail for a spinning capsule ride, most of the detail is for the center pole and support structure. Sides: Residual stain near the front edges as well as in the wood grain. On the bottom edge "T225" has been stamped twice in the left/center. Back: 5 vertical strips of brown paper and three horizontal strips. Visible beneath the strips is plain wood with ink stains in the grain and around the edges.
