Description
Picture Block Tongue and groove joined rectangular wood block. The block would be a full rectangle if not for the rectangle cut out in the top left, and in the bottom left (front view) edge. The cutout in the top left measures 32.6cm wide by 6.4cm long. The second cutout begins 2cm from the bottom left corner and measures 1.0cm wide by 5.0cm long. 2015.1.113 is the rectangle that is cut out. Front: Stained green. The block is primarily done in recession. There is a 0.9cm wide relief border around the entire block (except for the top left edge which is cut away). A relief line, with the same width as the border, cuts across the middle of the block 32.6cm up from the bottom edge. It is above this line that the images are. The image is that of a bat catcher on the left and a baseball player preparing to bat with his bat swung behind his shoulders. The bat catcher is 12.0cm from arm to arm, and 21.2cm from head to the bottom of his knees (that's where the relief line cuts it off). The images are all done in relief. The man batting is to the right. Below his knees is also cut off. From his knees to his hips measures about 10cm. His torso is leaning to the left. From his head to his waist measures about 19.6cm. From end to end, his bat measures 19.8cm. There is a 2.5cm tall/wide relief line 17.1cm up from the relief line that cuts across the middle. It has a very slight curve, and it crosses behind the 2 players' heads. There are 4 relief lines that come up from this line, not including the borderlines on the edges. The first line is 6.6cm to the right of the left borderline, and is 1.1cm wide. The second is 1.5cm wide and 10cm to the right of the first line. The third line is 0.9cm wide and 12.8cm to the right of the second line. The fourth line is 1.0cm wide and is 2.0cm to the left of the right borderline. Sides: There is a label on the bottom side with the previous temporary number written on it. Back: there is a strip of masking tape at the top with "DAG 289" written on it in red marker.
