It is a rectangular block of wood with a carved relief of the letter "N" backwards. The relief surface is stained dark Burgundy and the carved down portion is stained red. The shape is un-proportional in comparison to modern norms/ideals. The old accession number is written on a sticker placed on the bottom edge. The back is minimally marked with smudges of dark blue and red ink. Materials
