It is a rectangular block of wood with a carved relief of the number "1" backwards (movable typeface). The pattern of the wood grain is still evident on the relief surface. The relief is a vibrant red and the craved down portion is a matte rust colour. The carved down surface is not equally/ consistently covered in pigment and carving marks are evident. The back is discoloured in areas from dirt/grime and is marked with red and black pigment. Materials
