Description

It is a rectangular block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "O" or the number zero (movable typeface). The original coat of varnish is still evident and the pigment has naturally darkened with age and use. The grain of the wood is also still evident in some areas. The relief is deep red and the carved down portion is covered in a thick layer of dust and is a matte dark red. The back is varnished and discoloured. The entire surface is almost entirely marked by red, brown and black pigment.
