It is a rectangular block of wood with a carved relief of the letter "M" or "W" (movable typeface). The relief is a combination of light orange, orange, auburn and red pigment. The surface is smooth/glossy as the original coat of varnish is still evident. The carved down portion is dark red with a layer of dust. The back is discoloured with dirt/grime and marked with faded brown, red and dark blue pigment. Materials
