It is a rectangular block of wood with a carved relief of the letter "L" backwards (movable typeface). The pigment has naturally darkened with time and use. The relief is a grey/orange with areas of dull auburn. The carved down portion is matte burgundy. The back is darkened by dirt/grime and is marked by red, white and black pigment. There are also spots of varnish on the surface. Materials
