It is a rectangular block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "S" (movable typeface). The relief is dark burgundy with a cluster of fingerprints on the surface. The carved down portion is dark blue and burgundy with areas of orange/red. The back is only minorly marked with faded blue and black pigment. Materials
