It is a rectangular block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "D" (movable typeface). The pigment has naturally marked with time/use and the original coat of varnish is still evident. The relief is black and burgundy. The carved down portion is burgundy and brown and carving marks are evident. The back is discoloured by dirt/grime and marked with dark blue, black, brown and red pigment. Materials
