It is a rectangular block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "L" backwards (movable typeface). The pigment has naturally darkened with age/use and original coat of varnish is still evident. The relief is dark brown and black. The carved down portion is dark brown/purple and the surface is rough. The back is discoloured with dirt/grime and marked with black, brown and auburn pigment. Materials
