Description

it is a square block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "U" (movable typeface). The pigment has naturally darkened with age and use. The relief is Burgundy and black. The carved down portion is dark brown and the carving marks/dents are evident. The wood of the back is discoloured and pigment has naturally darkened with age/use. The surface is dark brown, red and black. The back is partly covered in three stripes of glued on paper that has yellowed. The paper has begun to warp and come away from the wood. Strips on the right and left side are 5x20cm and the middle strip is 5x7cm.
