It is a square block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "E" (movable typeface). The relief surface is smooth/glossy as the original coat of varnish is still evident and the pigment has naturally darkened with age and use. The relief is dark blue, black and auburn. The carved down portion is dark blue and red. The back is discoloured and marked with brown and red. The remnants of ripped off paper on the top right section. Materials
