It is a square block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "L" backwards (movable typeface). The relief is smooth/glossy as the original coat of varnish is still evident. the pigment has naturally darkened with age and use. The surface is burgundy and dark brown. the carving marks/dents are evident in the carved down portion. The back is discoloured and marked with brown and burgundy pigment. Materials
