It is a square block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "O" (movable typeface). the relief is smooth/glossy as the original coat of varnish is still evident and the pigment on the surface has naturally darkened with time and use. The relief is a combination of black and dark auburn. The carved down portion is black, dark red and the carving marks are evident. On the back the pigment has naturally darkened with age, use and dirt. The back is almost entirely covered in dull dark brown with areas of red and dark blue. Also carved 1.4x20.5cm rectangle on the lower half of the block. Materials
