It is a square block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "A" (movable typeface). The relief surface is glossy/smooth as the original coat of varnish is evident and the pigment has naturally darkened with time and use. The relief is dark brown and red. The carved down portion is Burgundy. The carved down surface is quite rough but appears to have happened during use. The back has two horizontal carved lines vertically across (1 cm and 2 cm). The relief surface/negative space is a combination of black, dark brown and burgundy. Materials
