It is a small rectangular block of wood with a carved relief of the letter "S" (movable typeface). The pigment has naturally darkened with time/use and the surface is smooth/glossy as the original coat of varnish is till evident. The relief is brown and auburn. The carved down portion is red and black/brown with small patch of faded white. The back has raised lines across surface and it is dark and light brown. Materials
