Dressmaker's Iron - This flat iron was used by my grandmother Mrs. A. G. Olson in her dress making. She was an accomplished seamstress when she came to the Ohlan area in 1890. She did much of her sewing for people in the Whitewood Area, commuting there on horseback from her home. This large Iron (12lbs) was used to press the seams and put the creases in the heavy woolen pants men wore at the time.
