Description

*Picture block* Rectangular plywood box with brown lino attached to the front. Entire block measures 2.3cm thick by 33.9cm wide (horizontal) and 38.4cm long (vertical). Lino has been attached using finishing nails in several spots. In the top 2/3, a section has been cut out of the lino, leaving plain wood visible and measuring 18.7cm (left edge), 29cm wide (top), approximately 30cm (bottom-on a downward diagonal), and 26cm (right edge). Front: Starting at the bottom is a 0.5cm border across the bottom left and right sides in relief framing the left and bottom edges of a 90 degree triangle with a curved top. This curved top has 25 triangles of varying sizes pointing towards the bottom. Within this triangle like shape are horizontal linear grooves. Above the curved line is another set of linear grooves (11) which follow the angle of the curve. This section is closed with another 0.5cm line following the curve, but these are in relief. Above this second section is the final relief design, which surrounds the aforementioned lino cutout, that consits of 3 wavy lines (kind of like an "M") on the top, left and right side with the curved edge of the bottom where it meets the second section. Sides: plain plywood Back: Paper has been glued to the top left corner. down the left edge and across the bottom. Residual stain can be seen in the center and down the right edge. "Red" has been handwritten in the top left (partially covered by paper). Next to the paper along the top is the handwritten word "TOP" in pencil. Black ink marks are present across the paper that has been glued to the back.
