Description
Waste bowl w/lid for tea service manufactured by Standard Silver Co. of Toronto, Canada. Made prior to 1893. Beautiful etched hard white metal and silver plated, waste bowl is footed and ornately decorated. Waste bowl has 4 feet and 2 handles, one on either side.
Lid is ornately decorated top half and the lower half is plain. The small handle for the lid is a circle with a daisy pattern in it. Handle has broken off.
Late Victorian or early Art Nouveau style.
On bottom is marked MANF'D AND GUARANTEED BY STANDARD SILVER CO. LTD TORONTO (printed in circle around logo which is a circle with a flag in it; flag has a cross in the corner). Below that is marked 2023 (which is the grade of metal) and below that is SPECIAL HARD WHITE METAL.
This waste bowl w/lid comes with a matching sugar bowl and creamer.
Donated by Mr. & Mrs. Harry Shooter in 1974.

The Standard Silver Co. Ltd. Toronto, was founded in 1893, successor to Acme Silver Co. in the production of silver plated flatware, holloware and hotel ware.
The firm merged with International Silver Co of Canada Ltd in c. 1912.
