Description
Hand turned Ice cream freezer with wooden barrel (17 pieces of wood individually attached to wooden base and then almost on top is a metal rim on outside of barrel that attaches them all on top with metal rivets and short screws).
On wooden stand (simple square platform with 4 legs and 3/4 ways down are 2 pieces attached criss cross, and  attached to all four feet; to make it sturdy); 4 qt. (there is a 4 marked on the one end of gear frame) triple action hand crank. On front is carved in wood:
On left side is TRADE MARK curved downwards and right below is REGISTERED straight and below registered is APRIL 9TH, 1889 curved upwards. On right side is carved in  TRIPLE ACTION then right below is WHITE MOUNTAIN, right below that is ICE CREAM FREEZER (these words are all in straight line but divided in 3 lines). All lettering is print carved, not script.
On top of Gear frame is embossed WHITE MOUNTAIN FREEZER. Gear frame has 2 screw gears attached. The gear frame reaches to both edges of barrel, on one end of the gear frame is then the hand crank attached with wooden handle (for more grip), gear frame is also attached to wooden barrel with metal piece on this side to hold it there in place. On the other end the gear frame is just attached to barrel with another piece of Iron holding it there in place. Gear frame is detachable.
On inside of wooden barrel and beneath the gear frame is then the steel canister where Ice cream goes in. The canister (with lid; steel) has a small circular opening on top, and through that comes out a square shaped iron stick (this stick runs all the way to the bottom of inside of canister, it holds the beater on inside in place; this stick is part of the beater) which fits into the gear frame (this is how the canister of ice cream gets turned around). The canister also has a small square hole on bottom on inside in which the second part for beater sits in. On bottom of canister from outside is a "Y" shaped piece of metal welded on, and in the middle of that is a circular object sticking out (this circular piece sits in the bottom of barrel; there is a small circular holder in bottom of barrel for this piece to sit in).
The beater is a 2 piece metal (silver) object. One of the two pieces is the outer beater, this is a vertical rectagular frame to which on both sides is a wooden vertical piece of wood attached with a angle edge, on two swivels (these two pieces of wood come very close to sides of canister when put in canister in place, making sure all the ice cream in canister gets stirred), this frame also has a square opening on top and a small circular opening on bottom (this is where second piece of beater comes through and sticks out of canister a little to get attached to gear frame).
The second piece of beater is the stick (inner beater) that goes all the way to the bottom of canister and all the way to top as far as sticking out a little, where it then gets attached to gear frame. This piece runs through the two openings on top and bottom of outer beater, and has 7 metal square flaps sticking out (this is for stirring the ice cream); 3 on one side and 4 on the other.
There is also a handle for the barrel with  it, but it is detached (wire with wooden handle on top in middle). Base of barrel is in 2 pieces (cut in middle).
This Ice cream freezer was donated by Mr. & Mrs. Harry Shooter in 1974, used in Alberta around 1912.
