Description
The Boston School Cookbook was written by Fannie Farmer and this edition is a second edition. The book is dedicated to Mrs. William B. Sewall. who was the President of the Boston Cooking School and Fannie Farmer believed that Mrs. Sewall deserved high accolades for her accomplishments. However, Fannie Farmer (who rewrote Mary J. Lincoln's book) deserves the credit since this book was written housewives. In the Farmer editions, the author made no assumption of her readers having any prior knowledge. Farmer carefully described every component of the recipe with exact measurements. The tone of the text reflected Farmer’s tis boorhetorical style when she taught her tried and tested recipes to her students.
This book was bought in a lot at the Tovell sale and donated to the Museum by Mrs. M. Wright

The cover appears to have had a picture on it that has been worn off.
The book has some recipes hand-written by Mrs. Wright. There are some ads at the back of the book. The book back spine is loose from the front cover and some of the pages are loose. The writing on the cover is hard to read.
