Description
Hand operated dough mixer (bread maker); makes up to 8 loaves. Consists of a round bucket, made in three pieces with two folded, vertical seams and bottom folded up at edge.
There's also a stamped, Y-shaped crosspiece that snaps over the rim on top and has a central circular bearing to hold the dough hook and curved crank with black-painted wooden knob. 
Crosspiece is attached and detached to bucket by a turn latch. Crosspiece bears product name (NO. 8 UNIVERSAL BREAD MAKER) above two columns of patent dates from Dec. 11th, 1900 to Dec. 25th, 1906, followed by  manufacturer's information (MADE BY LANDERS, FRARY & CLARK, NEW BRITAIN, CONN. USA) , all in incuse letters.
This bread maker was used in the Hackney family.
