Description
A wooden block plane. Block planes are usually smaller and used to smooth wood. They can easily be held by one hand. This particular plane was used in the 1870's and donated to the museum in 1968 by the smith family. It has a thick wood frame with two thick metal blades and a metal screw on the interior. the screw has fallen out and I don't know where it is supposed to originally go or do. To use said device they would place it on a piece of rough wood and smoothen it with the blade emerging from the bottom.
