Description
A double pointed sad iron made by Dover. The sad iron has a wooden handle that is attached to the lid by metal. There is a wooden knot to open the latch to remove the lid from the base so that a new base could be attached. On the base of the iron is a screw that fits into the latch. The base also has Dover No. 52 Sad Iron stamped on it. The base has a groove so that the lid fits snuggly on the base. The bottom of the base is smooth and is double pointed. The name sad iron came from the Englis since sad meant solid. The sad irons are solid and heavy.
