Description
A men's dress coat. Used at Andrew Bryce's wedding in 1904. 1904 was in the middle of the Edwardian clothing period when there were very specific clothing requirements for the men. They would wear a morning suit with an obvious collar striped pants, a cap and cane for the first part of their day. A work suit (similar to our modern suits ) during the middle of the day. Then finally at night if they chose to go out they would wear their tailed suits with a formal white shirt and bowtie. This is similar to the evening wear since it was intended for formal use. It is black, tailed & has a large collar. The material is also very thick and heavy to keep warm but also be fashionable.
