Description
A French ivory lid. This lid was for something within a 9 piece dresser set. It is rectangular with the top being larger than the bottom. There is an old dust mark inside of the lid( noted by the smell and appearance ). This is caused when the surface is damp and dust sticks and hardens onto the area. French Ivory is not real ivory but one of the first types of synthetic plastic to be invented. It is made by layering plastic on top of plastic then shaping it into the desire shape.  It is called French ivory because of the resemblance it holds to ivory although over time it will turn yellow and become more and more fragile to the touch. The real name for French ivory is celluloid.
