Photograph of Stevenson’s Department Store, 1925. Interior of store, men at counter, cans piled up in a display. William Stevenson is likely the man in the vest. Taken in 1925. Stevenson Bros. Department Store - Hugh, William, Thomas and Andy came in 1913 from Ireland. Their first store was on Government Road, then on 3rd Ave West, which burned down in 1918. They rebuilt another on the corner of 3rd Ave west and Centre street. This one burns in 1931. Hugh Stevenson goes it alone after 1926 through to 1941 with the 3rd location being the Avon Building after 1926. Thomas went to Winnipeg. Andy went farming and William went on his own after ‘26 and then died when he fell down the stairway in the Avon Building.
