Description
Photographic Postcard, Shaunavon Frontier Day parade float, 1914, “Motherhood, The Queen of all Nations” float, view of centre street 200 block buildings. Float pulled by horses ( Fred Barton’s team) the float was a “nest” containing fifteen young contestants over which hovered a Stork. Miss Ella Walters, the nurse accompanied by Mrs JF Zeller as a Guardian angel watched over the children. Mr Lambkin , manager of the Idlehour theatre, designed the float, and made the stork and Mr Neal made the banner “Motherhood the Queen of all Nations”. People are visible along the street. Banner across the street reads “Frontier Day Headquarters, Welcome to Shaunavon”. Buildings visible from left to right: “Thomson, Lee and Anderson Equipped ??,Fennell Bros Hardware ., Fowlie’s Drug Store and Brown Naismith Hardware. Written on the front in grease pencil “1914” in the upper right corner. Written on the back in red pen “2 July 1914 and (a message in French, translated and written in pencil) The float of the babies the cavalcade of yesterday and of this morning. The stork hand made by ?. We are all well and love this morning received Eugene’s letter which pleased us very much. (Addressed to) Mrs. L. Quiquet’s sister married Paul Quiquet Laurent’s Bro.”. Stamp on the post card is a 1 cent King George. Printed on a post card form.Materials
