Description
Photographic print, Shaunavon c1914, centre street, east side, 200 and 300 blocks, looking north. Pieces of cellulose with blue pen writing on them identify the buildings from left to right: “Photo Studio (George Preston), Laundry (Jim Wing), Standard, Mitchell’s Garage, ?, Binkley’s Furniture and Hardware [& Undertaking], Zeller Land Sales, Merchants Bank of Canada, Mercantile Block which included General Store, Preston Bros. Real Estate (not George), S.A. Hutcheson (later judge), and Dr. A.N. Grant (dentist), Union Bank (joined the Royal Bank later), Horsey & Hunter, Princess Theatre owned by George Archambault, Princess Block Rooms by day, week or month, showing ‘Esscabu’ by Ted Strickland 1913”. There is evidence of a white circle on the bottom right corner. Written on the back in pencil “1914” and “1614 (inside a circle)” also in a circle “8”. There are some words written in pencil in the lower right side that look like “Last side centre”. The back of the photograph is covered in dried glue.
