Description
Black and white photograph of a street in Shaunavon, Sask. Written on the photo in black grease pencil: “Rex Cafe, Wool and Fashion Craft, Grill Cafe, Real Estate, (after 1918 fire ‘wall erected after 1918 fire in 300 block’), Hawkins and King”. Written on the bottom boarder of the photo in black grease pencil “(200 Block)” and in the upper boarder “39”. Buildings identifiable: “Grill Cafe, Real Estate Loans, The Pioneer Hardware Fennell Bros., McNicol & Brown General Merchants, Rexall Drug Store Nightingale, W.J. Hawkins Jeweler Watch Maker and Jeweler and Naismith Hardware”. Late model cars are visible. Written on the back of the photograph in blue pen “Must be 1919 + = Fennell firewall built after 1918 fire”. Also written in pencil “60”. Duplicate photo 2002.25.25 and1988.16.203
